Old Mine Exploring

The Adventure Mine is a copper mine near Greenland, Michigan that operated from 1850 to 1920. During that time, miners removed more than 11 million pounds of native copper from the ground. We decided to step back in time to the world’s greatest copper district and experience one of Michigan’s best-preserved historic mines.

During our adventure, we went into portions of the mine that have been completely submerged since the early 1900s and still look as they did 100 years ago. Our exploration took us down to the second level where we came across rails, timbers, carts, and many other artifacts not seen anywhere else in the mine.

On this extensive journey through almost all of the first and second-level workings of the old Adventure Mine, we were a minimum of a 40-minute climb to the nearest mine exit. It was a great experience and if this sounds of interest to you, contact the amazing folks that were our professional guides at https://adventureminetours.com/.

Keep in mind that you will be deep underground for approximately 6 hours and need to be in good physical condition, have the ability to complete training exercises, be able to walk 2+ miles on uneven terrain, move through tight spaces, rappel down steep inclines, negotiate sloped trails with loose footing and cross rope bridges that span across deep cavities.

The guides will have the final say before letting you in. No matter their decision, be respectful. They are responsible for your safety and anyone else that might be joining.
